Over 350 adults and children were undeterred by cold temperatures to come out to run
the Annual Lynnfield Rotary 5K Turkey Trot, Sunday morning. The Co-President of Lynnfield Rotary and head “gobbler”, Christine Travers and Co-President Amy Lamarche, brought all the stalwart runners to the start line at 8:30am.
Before sending them off, they gave a welcome to all the entrants for coming out and for their support. They thanked, Brad Routhier, his family and the Routhier foundation, that is dedicated to women with cancer and its cure and the Lynnfield Moms’ Group (LMG) for partnering with Rotary for this event.
She explained the proceeds raised will be used for Rotary scholarships for deserving Lynnfield Graduating Seniors and the Routhier LHS scholarship is specifically focused for one who plans to enter the teaching profession as directed by the late Julie Routhier. She ended by thanking all the sponsors that have helped make this event possible.
She noted that along with a kids fun run, a scavenger hunt had been added this year for the “littlest trotters”.
With that, sound man Bob Priestley, owner of Boston Audio Visual, was introduced to play the singing of a rousing rendition of the national anthem sung by Whitney Houston, to signal the start of the run, then to call 1,2,3 “Go” for the sendoff.
